Although the Salt 1 earned an extremely devoted following, since it was based on the third-generation Delica, it lacked some of the design improvements that make the Delica 4 even better. So, consistent with the obsession with Constant Quality Improvement (C.Q.I.), Spyderco revamped the design to create the Salt 2. It combines all the salient features of the Delica 4 Lightweight model with the corrosion-resistant advantages of H-1 steel. These include enhanced ergonomics, a high-traction Bi-Directional Texturing pattern on the handle, and a black-coated titanium pocket clip that supports left or right-side, tip-up or tip-down carry. Unlike the Delica 4, which uses stainless steel liners in the handle, the Salt 2’s handle components are molded from solid FRN and fitted with four sets of threaded stainless steel inserts to mount the four-position clip. All other metal hardware on the Salt 2 is also machined from special non-rusting alloys.
Superior Quality
It is made from H1-Steel which all carbon is replaced by nitrogen that retains its sharpness well. It has an attainable Rockwell hardness in the high 60s while still retaining its resilience. It is an ideal knife for underwater diving, fishing, off-shore, the food industry and all those other professions where rust is not desired. It has a fully serrated black finished sheepsfoot style blade, Spyderco's trademark round hole opening feature, and the fully reversible 4-way titanium pocket clip allows for a tip up or tip down carry on either side of the handle.
Easy-to-Use
You open the knife with one hand by means of the round hole in the blade, after which, when opened, it is locked by the reliable back-lock. The blade is supported by a high-strength back lock mechanism housed in an Ultra-Lightweight linerless handle.
